Retirement Success Profile

My goal at Retire to the Good Life is to help you discover your passions and dreams and turn those into realities. I do this through using the Retirement Success Profile (RSP) to get you to look at all aspects of your life. I spend time listening to you by asking you focused questions and providing a variety of exercises to help you create your action plan and mission statement to move forward with purpose in your life!

The RSP is a scientifically-designed assessment tool that identifies personal retirement strengths and concerns for individuals and couples over 50 who are planning their retirement or who are already retired. These factors can brighten a person’s readiness for the first phase of retirement. The results provide an accurate and comprehensive picture of your overall readiness for retirement. Your scores on the 15 Life Factors that encompass 6 Life Arenas are compared to others’ scores who have taken the RSP. Your own individual Present-Behavior (PB-scores) are also compared to your own Retirement Expectation (E-scores). The RSP produces three scores for each of the 15 retirement success factors for a total of 45 scores. The goal of the RSP is to provide you with the most accurate, personalized and comprehensive retirement planning information possible. Unlike many other retirement programs, it does not focus solely on financial planning.

Addressing these 15 Life Factors directly increases and expands your options and likelihood of constructing a happy and personally successful lifestyle in your upcoming years.

A suggested minimum of one to two sessions is recommended for an effective and thorough understanding of your results along with goal setting options.

The 3 RSP Scores

Expectancy Scores (E-scores)

E-scores measure the level of preparedness the individual feels he should develop or would like to develop prior to his/her actual retirement date. E-scores give a quantitative measure of one’s general attitudes about retirement. E-scores give precise input to the question, “How prepared do I think I ought to be to enter retirement?”

Behavior scores (PB-scores)

PB-scores are a measurement of the individual’s current and actual level of preparation behavior accomplished to date. These scores answer the implied question every person approaching retirement asks, “How prepared am I to enter this new career developmental stage called retirement?”

Variance Scores (V-scores)

V-scores are a second-order score in that they are obtained by subtracting PB-scores from E-scores on each of the 15 retirement success factors. V-scores give a quantitative indicator of the amount of energy the individual approaching retirement still needs to focus on in order to be maximally prepared for a personally successful retirement. V-scores answer the questions:

  • In what specific areas of my life do I need to concentrate my energies?
  • How much of my energy is needed in order to achieve the type and level of preparation I would like to achieve?

I wish I had this experience five years ago as I was starting to wind down my career. The review of my strengths and preparation for my next phase of life was so helpful. I am looking forward to making transitions into consultant work and enjoying sometime on my own fishing.
